“How to Awaken Your Child’s Intelligence”

We are living in exciting times for learning. In the past five years there has been more brain research about how children learn than in the previous hundred years. It has now been proved beyond doubt that children develop around 50% of their ability to learn in the first four years of their lives. It has also been proven that each child’s brain is unique and is constantly changing depending on the quality of care and stimulation that it receives.

This indicates that parents have an important role to play as their child’s first, and most important teacher. What parents are doing with their children in their early years literally affects their brainpower in later life. For a child to fulfil their potential, the home, not the school, is the most important educational institution.

It is also true that a contented adulthood does not solely lie in academic achievement. It is much more important for parents to give their children an “inner confidence” and encourage a passion for life. A child’s confidence develops through gradual, small successes on a daily basis. Their intelligence is determined by what they are exposed too. The single most important discovery of recent brain research is that a child’s brain will develop through use.

All young children have a profound capacity to learn and within each child is a potential genius waiting for the proper environment to excel. Stimulating your child’s brain can be done in a number of ways. Firstly, parents can use “soft” skills that will assist in the development of your child’s communication skills. Secondly, there are numerous “hard” skills that will allow your child to learn an amazing amount about the world around them. Many of these skills can be started with a child from a very early age, as long before your baby can speak, they can understand what you are saying. This is because the visual and auditory pathways to their brains are already functioning. Although their speech pathways develop later, parents can play an important role by talking to their child about what they can see, hear and touch.

The School of Accelerated Learning runs courses for parents where you can learn hundreds of practical skills that will help stimulate your child’s brain. Call 020 89793951, email – info@accellearn.f9.co.uk or visit www.acceleratedlearningschool.com
